Alice M. Gehres, 81, of Van Wert, died at 6 a.m. Saturday,August 21, 2010, at her residence.
She was born January 28, 1929, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Marie V. (Fritz) Kreischer.
On November 20, 1949, she married Richard W. Gehres, who survives at the residence.
Mrs. Gehres was a homemaker, a loving grandmother and family cook. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Reformed Church in
America in Harrison Township and The Women's Guild, she was a 1947 graduate of Wren High School. She also belonged
to the Lady Board of Managers of Van Wert County Hospital and the Wren Garden Club.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Robert(Deborah) Gehres of Ohio City; two daughters, Gloria (Clark)
Ringwald of Middle Point and Carol (Ronald) Kill of Van Wert; six grandchildren, Craig (Kristy) Ringwald, Matthew
(Karen) Ringwald, Alison (Brett) Hammons, Stephanie (Brian) Renner, Bradley (Heather) Kill and Brian (Nora) Gehres; and
seven great-grandchildren, Caden and Kassidy Ringwald, Gavin and Madison Ringwald, Maxwell Hammons, and Carter and
Emerson Renner.
A great-granddaughter, Hope Grace Renner, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, at St.Paul's Reformed Church in America, with the
Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, August 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral home in Van Wert and an hour prior to
services Tuesday at the church.

Richard W. Gehres, 85, of Van Wert, died at 12:23 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 4, 1925, in Willshire Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Lawrence and M. Margaret (North)
Gehres. On November 20, 1949, he married Alice M. (Kreischer) Gehres, who preceded him in death on August 21, 2010.
Mr. Gehres was a retired farmer and a bus driver for Crestview Local Schools. He was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed
Church in America and belonged to Homer Pierson Post 207 of the American Legion. He was a 1942 graduate of Wren High
School and a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Deborah) Gehres of Ohio City; two daughters, Gloria (Clark) Ringwald of Middle Point and
Carol (Ronald) Kill of Van Wert; six grandchildren, Craig (Kristy) Ringwald, Matthew (Karen) Ringwald, Alison (Brett)
Hammons, Stephanie (Brian) Renner, Bradley (Heather) Kill and Brian (Nora) Gehres; and eight great-grandchildren, Caden,
Kassidy Ringwald, Gavin, Madison Ringwald, Maxwell and Marshall Hammons and Carter, Emerson Renner.
A great-granddaughter, Hope Grace Renner, also precede him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in America in Harrison
Township, with the Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in Harrison
Township, with graveside military rites performed by the Willshire post of the American Legion.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services
Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., or St. Paul’s Reformed

Township following an extended illness.
She was born January 20, 1935, in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late John M. and Ada M.
(Finkhousen) Weaver. On June 25, 1978, she married Gary "Mac" Gehres, who survives.
Mrs. Gehres had worked for Lincoln Life Insurance in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Central Insurance Company in Van Wert and
retired from Crestview Local Schools after 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Harrison
Township and its Women's Guild. She was a 1953 graduate of Wren High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Kevin M. (Sharon) Gehres of Ohio City; two daughters, Kimberly (Bill)
Clifton of Van Wert and Kelly (Scott) Rostorfer of Venedocia; three brothers, Donald (Marvene) Weaver and Paul R.
(Theresa) Weaver, both of Convoy, and Bill (Marlene) Weaver of Ohio City; four sisters, Phyllis (Gerald) Ulman, Mary Etta
(Arthur) Heller and Norma Feasel, all of Decatur, Ind., and Cleva Myers of Convoy; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Sara, Alisha,
Abbigail, Allyson, Alex and Corey, and a great-grandson, Adrine. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John R.
Weaver, Glen Weaver and Tom Weaver, and three sisters, Arlene Zinn, Helen Schindler and Alma Weaver.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Harrison Township, the
Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating.

1944, she married John Booher, who died June 2, 1969. She then married Karl Lehman on January 1, 1970, and he died
November 18, 1997.
Mrs. Lehman retired in 1986 after 21 years at Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert. She was a member of
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 178 in Van Wert and the Kennedy Manufacturing Retirees Club. She was also an avid Van
Wert City Council attendee.
Survivors include three children, Carl (Lynn) Booher of Deming, N.M., and Mona (Adrian) Allenbaugh and Rae (Alan)
Bigham, both of Van Wert; three stepchildren, Bill (Sharon) Booher of Nevada, Ohio, and Jim (Phyllis) Adams and
Jacqueline (Larry) Klinger of Van Wert; a sister, Delores Miller of Albion, Ind.; five grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and 31 stepgreat-grandchildren.
A grandchild preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in
Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is set for 2-8 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at the funeral home.

Edward R. Hurless, 54, of Convoy, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Indiana University
Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born June 6, 1952, in Van Wert, the son of the late George E. and Imogene L. (Feigert) Hurless.
Mr. Hurless formerly owned The Tavern in Convoy for 10 years and worked for Chrysler Amplex
Corporation in Van Wert. At the time of his death, he worked in maintenance and drove a school bus for
Crestview Local Schools in Convoy. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in rural Van
Wert County. He also belonged to the Sons of the American Legion in Van Wert, was a member of the
Crestview Knight Pride Club in Convoy and was a Convoy Fire and EMS volunteer for many years. He
will be greatly missed by family, friends and cronies.
Survivors include a brother, Loren “LJ” Hurless of Lima; one sister, Rita Hurless of Van Wert; a nephew,
Kory Hurless of Evansville, Ind.; and one great-nephew, Kaden Hurless of Evansville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 22, at St. Paul’s United Church of
Christ, with Rev. Wes Kuntzman, assisted by Rev. Bud Walls, officiating. Burial will be in IOOF
Cemetery in Convoy.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home in
Convoy and an hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Herman L. Stittsworth, 71, 708 Maplewood Ave., died at 7:02 p.m. Sunday in Van Wert county Hospital following a short
illness.
He was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Van Wert, the son of John and Elva A. (Ream) Stittsworth. On June 24, 1944, in New York
City, he married Gloria J. King, who survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. James (Karen) Madison and Mrs. Allen (Kathy) Sink, both of Van Wert and
Mrs. Ed (Kristine) Bozymski of Westerville; a brother, Freeman H. Stittsworth of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister Mrs. Donald
(Carrie) Dawson of Convoy; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Stittsworth worked at Continental Can Co. for 25 years, was former custodian of First United Methodist Church in Van
Wert, was former general manager of Van Wert Monument Co. and worked several years for Alspach-Gearhart Funeral
Home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of First United Methodist Church and Ohio State Alumni Association
and a life member of Van Wert American Legion, Van Wert Post Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 37th Division Veterans
Association. In 1988, he organized the Van Wert Area Alumni Marching Band.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. H. Thomas
Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American
Legion and the Van Wert VFW.

Ned L. Young, 53, of Convoy, died early Thursday morning, October 18, 2007, at James Cancer Center in Columbus, from
bone marrow transplant complications.
He was born September 13, 1954, in Van Wert, the son of Phyllis (Switzer) Young, who survives in Van Wert, and the late
Gaylord Young. On July 23, 1988, in Van Wert County, he married Sandra Unterbrink Young, who survives
Mr. Young, a 1972 graduate of Crestview High School, was a recipient of both the FFA Ohio State Farmer and the FFA
National American Farmer degrees. He was a grain and sheep farmer with his brother, Ron. He also was a bus driver for
Crestview Local Schools. He was an active leader in many organizations. He was, until his recent illness, on the Western
Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board, was the Crestview Band Parent Organization president and treasurer
of the Van Wert Sheep Improvement Association. He also wrote farm articles for The Times-Bulletin and was on the board of
the Ohio and National Southdown Sheep Association. He was also a member of the First Agricultural Leadership Program in
Ohio, a former president of the Crestview Local Board of Education, as well as a former president of United Way of Van
Wert County.
In addition to his mother and wife, survivors include two daughters, Cassandra and Mariana Young, both at home; a brother,
Ron (Carla) Young of Van Wert; aunts and uncles, Edgar (Dueece) Young, Paul D. (Ella) Switzer and Marilyn (Deo) Haines;
cousins, David (Paige) Young, Susan (Jon) Gnagy and Kenneth (Marie) Haines; nieces and nephews, Kris (fiancée Blain
Newsome) Young, Jennifer Young and Philip (fiancée Katlin Springer) Young, William Young, Shane (Elizabeth)
Williamson, Roxanne Unterbrink and Benjamin Unterbrink; his father-in-law, Donald W. Unterbrink; sisters- and brothers-inlaw,
Greg (Mary) Unterbrink, Dan (Jennifer) Unterbrink and Diana Williamson.
His mother-in-law, Pat (DeBolt) Unterbrink, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with
the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van
Wert and a half-hour prior to services on Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
or to the Young Children’s Educational Fund.

RENNER
Hope Grace Renner, 2 months, died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital of
Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born October 9, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital, the daughter of Brian R. and Stephanie M. (Kill)
Renner of Van Wert.
Other survivors include paternal grandparents Robert R. and Louise (Klaus) Renner of rural Van Wert;
maternal grandparents Ronald V. and Carol S. (Gehres) Kill of rural Van Wert, and great-grandparents
Richard and Alice (Kreischer) of rural Ohio City and Richard and Imelda Renner of Delphos.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in
rural Van Wert County, the Rev. Kenyon Kaehr and Rev. Ronald D. Fruth officiating. Burial will be in
Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in Harrison Township, Van Wert County.
Calling hours are two hours prior to services on Friday at the church.
Memorials on behalf of Hope can be made to Hope House of Lutheran Children's Hospital in Fort
Wayne.
Arrangements were handled by Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert.
