!!! The Magic trade Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee and and Tony Batie to the N. J. Nets in return for central Florida native and former All Star guard 6-6 Vince Carter and 6-10 forward Ryan Anderson. L.A. wins the NBA Finals iin Orlando 4 games to 1, the 4th championship for Kolbe Byrant, the 10th for coach Phil Jackson to surpass the Celtic legendary coach Red Auerbach and the Lakers 15th NBA Championship. The Magic are no match for the NBA Champs L. A. Lakers and Finals MVP Kolbe Byrant as L. A. closes out Orlando 99-86 in game 5. 20 turnovers and 15 missed free throws sink the Magic in game 4 in the 99-91 overtime loss. Derek Fisher's 3 and Magic missed free throws in the final seconds of regulation and Fisher again in overtime carry the Laker's to victory in overtime. The L. A. Lakers take a commanding 3-1 lead in the finals. Despite the hot hands of Orlando the Laker offence lead by Kolbe Bryant was virtually unstopable resulting in just the 4 point margin of victory in game #3. The balanced Magic offense had 5 players in double figures highlighted by the guards Alston and Pietrus returning to their playoff form with 20 and 18 points respectively. The Magic establish a new shooting percentage record for the NBA Finals knowing down 62.5% of there shots on the way to their 1st NBA Finals victory ever 108-104. Turkoglu and Lewis snap out their shooting slump in game #2 with 22 and 34 points respectively. The finals move to Orlando for the next 3 games. The Magic fall in game #2 to the Lakers in OT 101-96 to go down 2 games to none. Jameer Nelson returns to the lineup coming off the bench. Howard is held to 12 points, Lewis just 8 and Pietrus is the Magic's high scorer with 14. The Laker collasping bigs shut down Dwight Howard and the Magic offense sputters shooting just 30% from the field. The Lakers dominate in game 1 blowing out Orlando 100-75 in LaLa land. Dwight Howard (40 points & 14) leads the Orlando Magic into the NBA finals versus the L. A. Lakers as Orlando captures the Eastern Conference Championship 103-90 over the Cleveland Cavliers. !!!
