JOS. HUTCHINSON DEAD
Joseph Hutchinson, a pioneer oil man of Pennsylvania and the father of H. D. Hutchinson of this place, died Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Stacker of Allison. Mr. Hutchinson would have been 89 years old March 21, 1917, having been born in Allegheny county in 1828. In addition to the local councilman, deceased is survived by the following children, John, of near Uniontown; Mrs. Margaret Shrum of Noblestown; Mrs. Elizabeth Knox of Rixford, Pa., and Mrs. Stacker.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:30 o'clock at home of H. D. Hutchinson in Lincoln street with Rev. J. S. Bromley officiating and interment will be made Friday afternoon in the West Newton cemetery, where the body of deceased will be laid to rest beside that of his wife who died in the fall of 1896. The trip to West Newton will be made by automobile.
Mr. Hutchinson's six grandsons, William, Joseph and Amos Shrum of Noblestown; Earl Shrum of Marianna and Harold and John Hutchinson of Uniontown will serve as his pallbearers.

JOSEPH HUTCHINSON was born near Round Hill church, Elizabeth township, Allegheny county, Penna, March 21, 1828. His father, John Hutchinson, was born in New Jersey and came to Pennsylvania with his father Joseph Hutchinson. He afterwards on his return East, died from the effects of the measles. His wife, Ann Bennett, who lived to be 105 years of age, was a daughter of a captain of the War of the Revolution. The Bennetts were a remarkable people for their longevity and physical endurance, and were noted for their abstemious and temperate habits. John Bennett, a brother of Mrs. Ann Hutchinson, was a soldier under General Markle in the War of 1812-15.
The Hutchinsons are of English stock. John Hutchinson was a leading farmer and speculator of Allegheny and later of Westmoreland county, Penna.
Joseph Hutchinson, whose nameheads this sketch, was married March 21, 1849, to Ann E. McDonal, a daughter of John McDonal of Sewickley township, Westmoreland county, Penna (the great grandfather of the latter was one of the heroes of the Revolution), and has had seven children of whom two are dead: John M Hutchinson, a well-driller by occupation was born in 1850; Magaret Jane Hutchinson, now the wife of Amos Shrum, formerly of Westmoreland county; Travilo W. Hutchinson (deceased); Elizabeth Hutchinson, wife of Harvey Knox; Huldah Belle Hutchinson (deceased); H D Hutchinson, and Minnie B Hutchinson.
Joseph Hutchinson worked on the farm until he learned the blacksmith trade, and has since worked at this and the oil drilling business. He removed and located in Menallen township in 1882.
Joseph HUTCHINSON and Maria Ann E. "Annie" McDONAL(D) were married on 21 Mar 1849. Maria Ann E. "Annie" McDONALD (daughter of John McDONAL(D)) was born in 1827. She died in Nov 1896. She was buried on 11 Nov 1896 in West Newton, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania (gravestone inscription).

Harmer Denny HUTCHINSON died after 1922.
In 1916, he was a councilman. In April of 1922, he was living in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
John McDonald HUTCHINSON was born in 1849 in Pennsylvania.
He died in 24 Sept 1918. He was buried in 26 Sept 1918 in Uniontown, Fayette, Pennsylvania in Shady Hills Quaker Cemetery (gravestone inscription). In 1916, he was living near Uniontown. He was a well-driller by occupation.
Uniontown Daily News Standard, September 25, 1918, stated:
JOHN M. HUTCHINSON
John M. Hutchinson, aged 68 years, died at the Hutchinson Homestead, near Uniontown, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr. Hutchinson had been ill for the past year following a nervous breakdown. He was the son of the last Joseph and Annie Hutchinson. Deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: John and Orilla. He is also survived by one brother, H. D. Hutchinson, of Uniontown, and the following sisters, Mrs. Margaret Shrum, Mrs. Elizabeth Knox and Mrs. Minnie Stacher. Funeral services will be held at the Hutchinson homestead, about two and one-half miles west of uniontown, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Sandy Hill cemetery.
Anna May STACHER was born in 1873 in Pennsylvania. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Menallen, Fayette, Pennsylvania. She was a Practical Nurse. She died in 1943. She was buried in Sandy Hills Quaker Cemetery (gravestone inscription).

Margaret Jane "Maggie" HUTCHINSON was born on 24 Aug 1853 in West Newton, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.
Her last name sometimes is listed as "Hutchison" in various records. She died on 27 Apr 1922 in Uniontown, Fayette, Pennsylvania.
The Morning Hearld of Uniontown, Apr. 28, 1922, stated:
MRS. MARGARET J. SHRUM
Mrs. Margaret J. Shrum, mother of Mrs. M. R. Gregg and Miss Mae Shrum, of Uniontown, died here Thursday afternoon, April 27, 1922, of heart trouble. She had been ailing for the past year. Mrs. Shrum was born August 24, 1853, and until eight months ago had made her home with her son J. H. Shrum, of Noblestown, Pa. She was the widow of Amos A. Shrum. Mrs. Shrum came to Uniontown last July to reside with her daughters. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Noblestown. Surviving are the following sons and daughters; W. H. Shrum, of Noblestown; Earl T. Shrum, of Cannonsburg; Amos A. Shrum, Jr., of New Castle; Mrs. O, E. Herrington, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. E. W. Springer, of Ingram; Mrs. M. R. Gregg, of 85 E. Main street, and Miss Mae Shrum, of Uniontown. There are also surviving ten grandchildren, one brother; H. D. Hutchinson, of Uniontown, and two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Knox and Mrs. Minnie Stacher, of Rexford, Pa. One sister, Mrs. Newton Walker, is deceased. Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. M. R. Gregg, 85 East Main street, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
She was buried in lot 370 at Oak Grove Cemetery (gravestone inscription). She had moved to Noblestown with her children about 1901. Later she had been living with her son J. H. Shrum in Noblestown and in July of 1921 came to Uniontown to live with her daughters, Mrs. M. R. Gregg and Mae Shrum. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Noblestown.
Margaret Jane "Maggie" HUTCHINSON and Amos Altman SHRUM Sr. were married in Jun 1870. Amos Altman SHRUM Sr. (son of Henry SHRUM and Anna Maria ALTMAN) was born on 6 Aug 1845 in Titusville, Crawford, Pennsylvania. In a genealogy book, he was said to be born in Grapeville, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.

Uniontown Daily News Standard, Volume 10, No. 23, September 14, 1898 stated:
A. A. SCHRUMM died at his home in Menallen township Tuesday morning, Sept 13, 1898, aged 45 Deceased was a native of Oil City, being an oil well driller at that place. Three years ago he moved to Menallen township with his family and has been since residing there, and has been sick for some time. He was an Odd Fellow, being a member of Evans City lodge No. 817. He leaves a wife and nine children to wit; William, Joseph, Earl, Amos, Mary, Maud, Lizzie, Hortense and Blanche. Funeral took place at 2 p.m. today, being under the charge of the local lodge of Odd Fellows. Services were held at the late residence; interment in Oak Grove cemetery. The pall bearers were. C. B. Bryner, John Thorndell, Charles Deck, Theodore Weir, Wm. H. Coughanooz and M. Cobel.
He was buried on 14 Sep 1898 in Uniontown, Fayette, Pennsylvania. He was buried in lot 370 at Oak Grove Cemetery (gravestone inscription). He is a Civil War veteran. He moved to Menallen township about 1895.
